Today’s DIY project is sponsored by Sweet Estelle’s Baking Supply.

I did it. I officially, and successfully, made my first batch of homemade marshmallows! It’s so simple, seriously! When sweet supplier extraordinaire Jennifer of Sweet Estelle’s Baking Supply asked me to partner up for a yummy DIY, I told her I’d been wanting to make marshmallows. But with her sprinkle and cookie cutter selection, I couldn’t just make any marshmallows. I had to make confetti marshmallow numbers! For birthday toppers, favors, table numbers and more! But even better, folks, Sweet Estelle’s is giving one lucky reader a $50 gift certificate to their sweet-filled shop so you can make your very own (or whatever else you’d like, too). WAHOO! Check out the tutorial and then scroll to the bottom to enter to win a whole bunch of baking goodies (and find a fun discount code too)!

Look at that confetti cake! Those jumbo sprinkles own my heart.

One Batch Homemade Marshmallows (I used this recipe and it was so easy! To add confetti in the marshmallow batter add 1/3 cup when you add the vanilla.)

Confetti Sprinkles

Number Cookie Cutters

Cutting Board

Parchment Paper

Make your marshmallows according to your recipe (Adding sprinkles if you like! See above.). I covered the top of my marshmallows with powdered sugar, as instructed, and sprinkles. Once set, I flipped my marshmallow sheet out onto a large cutting board.

How To Make Marshmallows

To cut out the marshmallows, first spray your cookie cutter lightly with non-stick cooking spray. Then press the cookie cutter firmly into the marshmallows, making sure you go all the way through. Pull out your shaped marshmallow and pop it out of the cookie cutter. Repeat and re-spray as needed. For reference, my 9×13 pan of marshmallows made about a dozen number marshmallows.

How To Cut Marshmallows with a Cookie Cutter

To cover the additional sides of the marshmallows I only used sprinkles (not the typical powdered sugar as it covered up the sprinkles too much for my liking!). To do this, just lay out your marshmallows on your cutting board or parchment paper and sprinkle some, well, sprinkles over top!

Confetti Marshmallows
Done! Other than just using them as a fun dessert at a party you can…

Confetti Marshmallow Numbers
Make them into a cake topper by inserting a bamboo skewer all the way through the marshmallow (to help it stand) and into the cake.

Confetti Cake
To package the marshmallows as favors, use food-safe treat bags or cellophane bags and tape or tie them shut!
