This weekend I created an inspiration board for an empty wall space in our home. We're planning to place a desk directly underneath it to become my new work space. I guess this is more of an inspiration post than a D.I.Y. post, considering the final outcome is all based on the creator's personal style. I was surprised by how simple the project ended up being and only took about an hour. Take a look for yourself..
1. Begin by making a frame for your inspiration board. I bought a 2x4 plywood board at Lowe's and had them cut it into two 6 inch x 4 ft. and two 6 inch x 3ft pieces. To secure the board, use liquid nails to glue it in place. Be sure to follow the instructions on the tube, and let it dry the suggested amount of time. 2. Once it's dry, staple the mesh panel securely to the back of the frame. Depending on the size board you desire, you may have to cut the mesh to size. Your board is finished! Easy as that. The following steps are optional, depending on what style of board you would like.
3. Take the wooden crate (mine was originally a wooden jewelry box, and I detached the lid), and make three small holes in the bottom with a hammer and nail. I chose succulents because they need such little watering. I did put the holes in the bottom just in case and will simply hold a plate underneath it if any water needs to drain out. 4. Next, nail the crate to the front of the frame. 5. Then, fill the crate with succulents and soil. 6. Lastly, take metal clips and add magnets to the back. These are to hold all of your important notes, lists, and inspirations you'll be putting on the board.
