Happy Friday, everyone! What do you all have on your weekend agendas? It’s hard to believe, but in Austin we’re supposed to be seeing temps getting scarily close to the 90’s, so I (Chanel) have big plans to set up shop at the pool and stay there. For those of you looking for an inexpensive and really simple craft to put together this weekend, we’ve got just the thing for you. Since I’m a huge fan of gifting plants, especially low maintenance succulents, we created a template (with a little guidance from Jordan) that can be traced onto any wrapping paper, and fits seamlessly around a standard 3.5 x 3.5-inch plastic plant container. And don’t forget: May Day is right around the corner, and I’m quite sure anyone would be thrilled to find this on their doorstep… Be sure to check out the instructions after the jump!

  1. Download and print stencil onto card stock paper, scaled to 100%. Cut out around edges, and slice interior lines with craft knife.
  2. Trace shape (including interior lines) into back of wrapping paper. Flip stencil as pictured above, and trace again. Cut shape out around the edges, and slice along interior lines.
  3. Fold in flaps, and carefully weave through slits as pictures above (you may notice at this point that your slits are too small. Grab your craft knife and slice them bigger.) Repeat on the other side.
  4. Slide plant into paper form, and trim around the top to make paper flush with plastic container.
  5. If paper flips out on corners, use a small piece of double sided tape to secure it down.
  6. Garnish with any small flag or decorative pick, and give to loved ones!
