you may remember i’ve already made a leather luggage tag here on the blog — but i decided to revamp. in fact, i’m considering revamping a few older DIYs because honestly — sometimes i run out of ideas, and i never really love old posts.
anyway! i saw these tags months ago on pinterest (they seem to not exist for sale anymore) and i’ve been wanting to create luggage tags in the same style forever. so i finally buckled down and made them! also – now that i’m in the mindset that i’m going to be changing my last name – i decided to incorporate my new name onto the tags as well. yes, my new name will be BOOMER. MOLLY BOOMER. is it crazy sounding?
btw – anyone know how to officially change your last name? it seems like suuuuch a thing.
materials
01. using your rotary cutter, cut the leather down to the size and shape of your choice.
02. wet the leather with a paper towel or submerge in a glass of water. pat dry and tape down one line at a time for a guide for your text.
** i HIGHLY recommend doing a test tag in case you’ve never used the letter stamps before, so you can get used to them. i also recommend lightly pressing each letter in before hammering to make sure you’ve placed it correctly, and all you need to do is two LIGHT TAPS with your hammer per letter.
03. above a working surface (such as scrap wood), do your letter stamping row by row.
04. using your leather punch (or an awl), punch a hole in the top for your elastic. string a double piece of elastic through your hole and tie in a double knot.
with spring here and summer around the corner, all i want to do is travel. and now i have a reason!
