DIY Quote Coat Hanger

DIY Quote Coat Hanger

Contributor post by Penelope and Pip

I was watching my boyfriend take his work shirt out of the closet last week and a little spark of genius hit me - I should write little quotes on his hangers so that when he irons his shirt in the morning he sees a happy message to take him through his day. After all, we could all use a little pep talk at that early time of the day right?

So I set about working out the easiest method of adding my little sayings so that it wasn't in my scrawly handwriting and discovered that once I found the write product, this was pretty much the easiest project ever!

Firstly, the materials:

Only three simple ingredients needed:

1. Coat hanger

2. Popsicle stick

3. Rub on letters (like these or these - I found mine at my local craft store)

Now for the fun part!

Step 1: Choose an inspirational quote or a happy message to write on your hanger.

I chose a combination of lower and upper case letters to make it fancier!

Step 2: Slip the backing off the letter before you rub it on

Step 3: Place your letter on the coat hanger - if you aren't good at using your judgement for lining things up, you might want to mark out a line to place your work on in pencil first (you can rub this out later).

Now rub all over the letter using the Popsicle stick. About ten seconds of rubbing should do the trick and make sure you are nice and firm with your touch.

Step 4: Keep placing your letters on until you end up with all the words rubbed on.

Step 5: Hide in the closet with his favourite go-to work shirt so he sees it tomorrow morning!

This is such an easy project you could make a whole bunch of coat hangers in about twenty minutes.

You could do these for your partner, your kids, your best friend or you. Adding some sunshine to someone's day is always a great project.
